Season
NCSA skates year-round.
Our race season starts in October and extends until mid-March. The race season terminates after National Age-Group Championships, which are usually held in March, in various places around the US. From September to March, the primary focus for many skaters is race prep, speed, technique and fitness.
The offseason goes from March until September. During this time, the main focus is fitness, technique, and fun.
Attire for Training
- skinsuit (if you don’t have a skinsuit:) Long Sleeve Shirt, tights or sweat pants (no bare skin on arms or legs)
- Gloves
- Helmet (bicycle, skiing, skateboard helmets are acceptable)
- recommended: knee pads, shin guards, neck guard
Racing Attire
- skinsuit (if you don’t have a skinsuit:) Long Sleeve Shirt, tights or sweat pants (no bare skin on arms or legs)
- Required – Gloves, neck guard
- Helmet with race number affixed
- blade tip radius must be no less than 1/3″ (diameter of a nickel)
- Recommended: knee pads, shin guards
